Hounds for Heroes is a brand new charity which aims to give support dogs to injured and disabled personnel from the armed forces and civilian emergency services.

The charity was conceived by disabled Gulf War veteran, Allen Parton, whose experience with his support dog, Endal, helped him rebuild his life. Endal, who sadly passed away last year, was awarded the Peace Time Dicken medal in 2002. Endal was capable of performing a range of tasks, including opening a train door, posting a letter and loading a washing machine. Support dog, Endal

Hounds for Heroes aims to raise £100,000 for its Puppies on Parade appeal so it can purchase, train and support its first five Hounds for Heroes.

Mr Parton said: “Our first puppy is already named Juno after the D-Day beach and it is the charity’s intention that all the dogs will have military and service related names.”
